Child Abuse Prevention Month Children's Art Gallery Information

April is National Child Abuse Prevention MonthApril is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. To bring awareness of child abuse and to celebrate countywide prevention efforts, Weld County has traditionally hosted events throughout the month. However, the ongoing limitations COVID-19 has placed on our communities has prompted the cancellation of all in-person events.

For the last several years, Weld County has hosted a Family Fun Fest chalk art event, which allowed children and adults in our community to share their artistic talents. In continuing with that tradition, we're offering a fun alternative event where the children of Weld County will have an opportunity to have their art creations featured on the county Facebook page.

Children of all ages are invited to participate in this virtual children's art gallery. With parent/guardian permission, children are encouraged to create art projects from home that symbolize what great childhoods mean to them. Parents/guardians can then submit a picture of the completed artwork to killenjw@weldgov.com, sharing their child’s first name, last initial and age. Parents/guardians will be required to include a release of information, giving permission to have their child’s artwork photo displayed on the Weld County Facebook page. (Download the release agreement PDF here. Please print it out, fill out the information and take a photo of the completed agreement. Then, please include the completed agreement photo with the photo of your child's art submission.)

All submissions are due by Friday, April 10 for a chance to be featured on the Weld County Facebook page throughout the weeks of April 20 and 27. All types of art are welcome, so please submit photos of your child's Lego builds, craft projects, paintings, drawings, photography, chalk art and anything else. Be creative and have fun!

Thank you for joining Weld County in continuing the tradition of bringing awareness to child abuse prevention.

Weld Child Care Matters
"Being a child care provider has opened many personal and professional opportunities for me. I love being part of my community by providing a safe and homey environment for children. As a parent, I know how difficult it is to find safe and affordable child care. By accepting CCCAP children, I am able to help parents and children in my community by providing good, quality care for them." -Angie Maddox, Licensed Home Provider
