Promises for Children

United Way of Weld County Promises for ChildrenWe all have a role to play in helping prepare Weld County’s children for the future.

Promises for Children grew out of the Weld County community's concern for the well-being of its children, as represented in the 2000 KIDS COUNT in Colorado! report.

In 2007, United Way's Promises for Children was recognized by the State of Colorado as the Early Childhood Council of Weld County. The Council's purpose is to develop and implement a comprehensive system of early childhood services to ensure that all children grow up valued, healthy and thriving.

Promises for Children's goals are:

  • Early Learning and Development - Increase quality of child care environments to promote brain development and kindergarten readiness.
  • Family Support and Education - Increase coordination of resources to provide access to information about young children's overall wellness and development for parents.
  • Health and Well-Being - Work with community partners to increase awareness of nutrition, physical activity and mental health services available in the county.
  • Community Awareness and Advocacy - Link public engagement/awareness efforts about early childhood issues, priorities and challenges and share/implement with stakeholders.

The Council brings together professionals who work with young children in a variety of ways by convening community partners and committees. Contact us to get involved!
